CD OF THE WEEK

DJ Clock’s acute ear for quality compositions was developed at a young age when his father would send him to the record player to playback his favorite songs. These reggae, jazz, fusion and afro-pop sounds were soon the centre of Clock’s universe as he became absorbed in the various components that shaped a beat. He was so fascinated at the skill involved that he began to intently observe club DJs at work. By 16, he was actively listening out for stellar productions and mixing techniques around his hometown, Vosloorus.

Dj Clock’s enthusiasm caught the eye of the popular DJ Fofo who quickly took the teenager under his wing and trained him on a weekly basis.
he is hooked on evoking emotion through his music. The quest for the latter made him teach himself how to produce, on a keyboard, when he was not occupied with high school. In 2005, he also joined a weekend DJ academy at a Rosebank internet cafĂ© and it was during that learning experience that that his breakthrough song, “Chynaman in Africa”, came about. Every DJ from Euphonik to Fresh to Oskido wanted to add that song to their playlist and Compilations.

His new album the 2ndTick features artists from Clock’s very own stable, AM PM Productions, BRICKS on manyonyoba and other club banging tunes.

“I love to make people dance, if that’s not happening or there’s no reaction then I feel rejected.....Dj Clock, “

CD OF THE WEEK

GLEN LEWIS

His inspiration for radio came through a friend who introduced him to his father’s music collection via Radio Swazi where the friend’s dad was a DJ. Through continued interaction with this station he got bitten by the radio bug and sought to see himself behind the microphone.
Glen’s passion for radio was so alive that he was even willing to work on radio for free!
He started recording demo tapes of himself—his training involved recording other DJs and then mimicking them.

Gradually he developed his own style. When he felt that he was good enough to be on radio, he started sending Demo tapes to various radio stations indiscriminately. On many occasions he got negative responses, but he didn’t give up.

After another push he got a gig at Radio Thohoyandou. A year and a half into working at Radio Thohoyandou, Glen went to the Soweto Show (similar to the Rand show) with the radio station. Radio Bop was also there, and they were so impressed with him that they made him an offer right there. He went on to work at Radio Bop for the following 5 years.

DJ GIGGS SUPERSTAR GOES VOLKSWAGEN

AS OF 5 SEPTEMBER 2009, Giggs Superstar will be driven by McCarthy VW Constantia (specific branch).
The deal which was recently concluded between McCarthy VW Constantia and Splakavellis Management, on behalf of Giggs Superstar, is definitely lucrative in association for both brands.
McCarthy VW Constantia will also be fully supporting Giggs Superstar’s international tour to South East Asia at the end of September 2009, ensuring that he gets a true “Superstar Style” send off when he leaves and welcoming when he returns, with a fleet of vehicles accompanying him convoy style!

The star definitely has things going for him recently – 2 previous platinum selling compilations, headlining nationwide tours with International DJ’s, first solo album currently in stores and selling well, invited to headline his own International tour in South East Asia and now this McCarthy VW Constantia deal.

The future looks bright for this Superstar, who still remains as humble and shy as the boy next door!
